Leaving Europe #1

A moment to remember. Super throwback to my last year's journey leaving for another continent. Yep, it was exactly last year that I started my Erasmus life in Europe for 10 months. I wrote my departure story on this post: The Departure and The Journey

I know it's super late to tell this, but I've come back to Indonesia since last July. And I want to share my return trip, which I believe one of the most unpredictable things I've experienced this year :D

Even before my departure, I'd had already known when I should be home, on July 15th, 2016. The last one month, I always waited for the date to come since I missed home so much. But when it was getting closer, I started feeling sad. I didn't want to leave.

On the last weekend, Indonesian people in Trento/Bolzano gathered for Eid party and my farewell. 2 days before my leaving, my floormates and I threw a farewell party for me in the kitchen. The next day, I came to Povo, where my faculty was, for the last time. I met some friends and walked to all parts of the building, especially the places where I used to stay: the study room, the library, corridors, prayer room. I had an appointment with a friend of mine in the center after that. I could actually go earlier by bus but then I decided to take the train for the last time. Yes, the train which always took me in the trips full of warm conversations and memories to university and back. I enjoyed the best gelato in town for the last time and took a picture in front of Trento's landmark. My plan was to ride on a cable car which I hadn't tried even once, but unfortunately, the wind was so terrible that the car couldn't work. I had my last dinner in Trento in a pizza place, which was one of the best in town (not that pizzeria and kebabria).

I came back from dinner with Maliha before midnight and started packing my stuffs. I thought 2 hours would be enough for packing and cleaning the room but I ended up not having sleep until 6. And my luggage seemed overweight even though I left many stuffs. Thanks to Mba Lufi who offered me to bring some books of mine which reduced almost 5 kgs. I had my last breakfast with Maliha prepared me egg and Alessio prepared me coffee, bread, nutella, and melon. My bus to Milan was at 10.20 and I had to take bus to the center at 9.40. When I thought that I had been ready, I went to the reception to check out and gave back my key, but I forgot where I put it. I went back to my room and didn't find it there. I thought maybe I put it inside my backpack which had been carried by my friend to the bus stop. So I ran to him and still couldn't find it. I was in panic since the bus was about to come and finally found it inside my pants pocket!!! I didn't have time to run back to the reception, so Maliha just told me to give the key to her so I could go. Without having a proper goodbye, I ran back to the bus stop :(

My friend, Mastad, offered me to accompany me to Milano Centrale. He helped me to carry my stuffs that had same weight as mine. It took us 3 hours to reach Milan from Trento, but it wasn't that long since I slept along the journey. We still had much time before my train to the airport, so we had lunch together. Then my train was coming that I should finally go alone. I remembered the day I reached that place I was running to my train while pushing my luggage. I laughed then, bitterly. I never thought that I should finally say goodbye, to that country.

A corridor where I usually had a phone call with my mom. The room on the left side is the study room and with a table closest to the door as my favorite spot. The bench on the right side is where I usually have my lunch.
Small yet peaceful. I should queue if I came too early :v
